Day 244: Michael Jordan Speech 

I hope you’re enjoying your long weekend.  I’m away fishing and having a hoot.

While away I have been contemplating life.

Life is like a helicopter.

I have no idea how to operate a helicopter.

Anyhoo…

Your ONE COACHING THING Today Is:

‘Michael Jordan Leadership’

Last week I provided you three steps to impressive business Leadership.

I’ve watched the Michael Jordan Documentary ‘The Last Dance’ for about the 10th time and he exudes the qualities of a Leader like no other.

“Look winning has a price. And Leadership has a price.

So I pulled people along when they didn’t want to be pulled. I challenged people when they didn’t want to be challenged.

I earned that right because my teammates that came after me didn’t endure all the things that I ensured.

Once you joined the team, you lived a certain standard that I played the game and I wasn’t going to accept anything less.

Now if that means I had to go in there and get in your ass a little bit then I did that.

You can ask my teammates, the one thing about Michael Jordan was that he never asked me to do something that he didn’t do.

When people see this they might say ‘well he wasn’t a nice guy, he may have been a tyrant.’

No, that’s you because you never won anything. I wanted to win but I wanted them to win too.

I don’t have to do this and I’m only doing it because it is who I am.

That’s how I played the game.

That was my mentality.

If you don’t want to play that way, don’t play that way.”

Respect.

Michael Jordan is my favorite athlete of all time and as I write this, I’m looking at the picture of him as my computer screen saver.  

The ultimate competitor.

The ultimate winner.
