Day 78: The Zombie Apocalypse

Yesterday I was explaining how singers like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Justin Timberlake get 10 million dollars of free publicity by attending a High School Prom with a lucky student. 

It also, non-remarkably, always coincides with a new album/tour date. 

Possibly not as swell as we thought they were..? 

Anyhoo…. 

It may not appear to be ‘bold’ for a famous singer to hit the high school Prom but the reality is plenty can go wrong for these young stars. 

How could you do something similar to get some free PR for your business coaching?

It’ll be a little harder for you than it is for the celebrities… but some creativity can go a long way.  

Your ONE THING today is that it’s not about ‘who you know’…

It’s about ‘WHO KNOWS YOU!’

 To be remembered it helps to do something a little outside the box.

You may or may not know my story of my big bro who killed himself, when I was 16 years old, over a business failing.

The reality is that I’m totally driven by it and have been for a long time.   

Unfortunately, it’s not all that unique of a story because business owners kill themselves all the time.

Let’s assume suicide is a cause you could really get behind and you’re willing to go outside the box to get noticed, known and remembered. 

You could get dressed up in a zombie outfit when you attend local events and trade shows. 

Hand out flyers with stats and explain the epidemic of business owners that experience depression, suicidal thoughts and actually kill themselves… and importantly, what you’re doing about it. 

Hint: Your events/coaching which are the solution others can get behind.

Or you could go to the next level… put on the same zombie outfit and head out with some friends, also in zombie type attire, and cause some chaos in the business district during work hours or at the football game on the weekend. 

Intentionally cause some serious chaos with chants and signs. 

Prior to starting call the newspapers, radio stations, magazine, all other media plus if you know someone (someone you know, 100% ‘knows someone’) in the media you can have helped a little… plus possibly hire a PR manager for it. 

Call the police yourself once the chaos starts.   

Have your script ready and when the media ask what’s happening you tell the exact same story to everyone. 

“Business owners are killing themselves… it’s not necessary…. It’s not that hard to build a business but they’re following the wrong marketing roadmap! Accounting is also impossible to understand because they have 4 names for everything to confuse the heck out of you like ‘earnings’, ‘profit’, ‘net income’ and ‘bottom line’ are all the same thing…

Taxes are too high and government compliance is an all-time headache… I’m doing something about it and educating business owners on marketing and building a successful business every Tuesday morning at 7am at XYZ venue. 

Tell your friends to be there and potentially save a life.”

The same compelling story with your marketing message and call to action over and over… just like a politician does.

Or maybe your cause is divorce amongst business owners. Which is a HUGE problem… and a bigger problem for the kids that get their lives turned upside down due to the pressures an (unnecessarily) struggling business can place on a family.  

You could wear a bride’s outfits and also some of your friends dress up like little kids affected by divorce… make some noise outside the Chamber of Commerce as per above. 

The above is kinda crazy…

But remember what I’ve told you before: 

“The Crazy Ones Make All The Money.!”

You heard it here first. 

You’ll probably think “Wow, that’s a great idea!”…

… And then you’ll do nothing about it. 

Challenge accepted?
