Day 441: Weird Correlation Model

Yesterday I was explaining the importance of measuring in the Olympics…

Speaking of the Olympics…

A shark could swim faster than me but I’m confident I can outrun the shark.

So in a triathlon, it’ll all come down to who’s the better cyclist.

In other news…

You might as well go ahead and pronounce the “L” in salmon.

Nothing matters anymore.



‘Weird Correlation Model’*not sure if attachment made it

I’ve covered this in the past but here it is in a mental model.

Assume all other things similar (not necessarily equal) your and your high end clients tend to trend towards things that are odd, different, hyped up, colorful, and weird while we ignore what’s clear and painfully obvious.

Example 1: Spend hours learning about investing from young hypey types in flashy videos and ignore the consistent messages from Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger and Ray Dalio over the past decade.

Example 2: Read about the importance of ‘investing in you and your business’…. ‘investing in staff’… ‘investing in marketing’…  And then investing in Crypto instead.

Not to mention checking the price of it 5 times per day… Thinking about it incessantly.

What you and your clients need to be careful of here is:

Being attracted and drawn to what’s new, weird, overhyped, and colorful.

Much of which you’ll find on social media.

Use mental models to ensure you’re not the next victim.

You heard it here first.

Now, pick up the phone and go help someone.
