One Thing: Day 201: The Only Three

Day 201: The Only Three

Yesterday I was explaining what the cornerstone of life is.

They make people clean their room.

Show up at school.

Unfortunately, also commit murder in multiple ways.

I also explained why the cute girls in high school all secretly wanted to date the ‘bad boy’.

Is it too late to buy tight leather pants, start smoking, and drive a beat-up truck whose gas gauge never leaves ‘empty?’

Anyhoo….

Yesterday I got a number of questions around ‘examples of incentives’ and how they dramatically and forcefully affect our decision-making.

I did some homework and there are only three types.

One Coaching Thing

Therefore, your ONE COACHING THING today is… the three types of INCENTIVES.

  • Economic
  • Social
  • Moral

Economic: If you make this sale you’ll get paid $1,000 commission. If you do not make this sale you will not make the $1,000 commission.

If you work hard you’ll make more money.

Moral:  Need I highlight the way people make you feel about wearing a mask?

“Wearing a mask is not about you it’s about protecting other people.”

Not breaking the law due to the consequences would be another example of a moral incentive.

Social: Brushing your teeth, wearing deodorant, and generally being hygienic would be up there for most.

Elon Musk has taken this to new heights with Tesla and the social responsibility of driving an electric car.

Going to Church cause it’s ‘the right thing to do’ and also not wanting to be seen as ‘a criminal’ by your friends, family and peers are other examples of social incentives.

After reading the above I assume, Toms shoes who give a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair that you buy makes even more sense.

How can you and your high-end coaching clients start using the ‘Cornerstone of Life’ in a positive way to get people to decide, ethically, in your favor?

Bottom line INCENTIVES are the cornerstone of life and there are only 3 types of them.

Create them and have your high-end coaching clients create them also.

You heard it here first.
