Last week we covered a lot of ground including how Kobe Bryant said, ‘you are not stuck… you just lack singular focus’ as well as how I’m already tired of waking up for school and I’m not even the one going.

Speaking of things I’m trying to avoid…

Here’s my conversation with Dangerous Dave.

Me: What did you do this weekend?

Dangerous Dave: Got kicked out of the coffee shop.

Me: For what?

Dangerous Dave: They have a new sign that says, “No WiFi, pretend it’s 1980!” so I paid 25 cents for my coffee and lit a cigarette.

There lies a gap between what people say they want… and what they secretly want.



‘Billionaires Bad Advice’

When hockey was my living, I got to the point where I hated lacing up my skates.

Billionaires love to give out this advice, ‘do what you love’…

It seldom works in business and a small amount of reverse engineering will allow you to see the billionaire didn’t become a billionaire that way.

One reason is that what you love….

… you often don’t love anymore when you do it for a living.

So, what’s the solution I hear you ask?

‘Love what you do’ rather than ‘do what you love.’

Here’s what I mean by, ‘love what you do…’

Fall in love with creating programs.

Fall in love with marketing of your program.

Fall in love with measuring the marketing of your program.

Fall in love with your clients.

Fall in love with the constant growth required to continue to be successful.

Fall in love with the servicing of your clients.

Fall in love with the journey… not the destination.

‘Doing what you love’ sounds good but tends to end poorly.

Love what you do…

… thank me later.

You heard it here first.

Now, pick up the phone and go help someone.
