Day 172: How To Do Contingency Deals 

Yesterday I was explaining how I structure coaching deals to get a $50,000 upfront coaching fee.

Just make sure that if you structure those kinds of coaching deals that you really slap them into gear.

Speaking of which… I’m going to ask my Dad if the offer to slap me into next year is still on the table.



“Do Your Contingency Deals Off Gross Revenue and Not Profit”

I got a boatload of questions yesterday on ‘why you work the contingency deal off gross revenues VS profit.

I figured this topic makes sense today.

When you have coaching software to help you knock it out of the park with your coaching clients… you’ll hit some home runs.

I’ve taken coaching clients from a moderate $100,000 of profit to $1 million dollars per annum paydays.

As much as I appreciated the Christmas cards for the next 12 years…  I deserved a little more than a Hallmark card.

So, will you.

The mistake coaches make when they do a contingency/royalty deal is that they make it off ‘profit’.

In the words of my Father (and he may have gotten it elsewhere?):

“Kid, people are exactly as honest as they can afford to be.”

In other words, profit can be manipulated nine ways to Sunday and therefore your contingency earnings manipulated as they so choose.

This ruins your coaching relationship on many levels.

I also want to emphasize that a contingency deal will dramatically increase your closing ratios.

In a nutshell, the confidence and positioning of the contingency deal make your new high-end client feel more ‘certain’ that you’re the real deal.
