Brenda is an influential voice to empower and encourage women who have been marginalized and misunderstood. Her life-long mission has been to remind kingdom citizens that Christ left us with a legacy to lead and a heritage to follow. As a kingdom builder with a passion for market-place ministry, before the term “marketplace” became popular, she knew her evangelistic style could not remain locked and loaded in the four walls of the denominational church.
Brenda began her career in the field of fashion, image and protocol as a speaker, trainer and coach when women of color in the industry were scarce. She received recognition as a small business entrepreneur when she pioneered Feminique Image Improvement Workshops in Fayetteville, North Carolina. As her career emerged, she began coaching contestants for the preliminaries for Ms. North Carolina and served on the Board for N. C. preliminaries for the Ms. America pageants.
As a seasoned business etiquette and corporate professional, Brenda served as an independent contractor in areas of diversity & team effectiveness for multi-national consumer goods corporation Procter & Gamble. Although this venue was satisfying, she once again found her passion mentoring youth.
In 1994, Brenda became a franchise owner breaking racial barriers by launching The Fayetteville Junior Cotillion which hosted at least 10 cotillion training and formal events. In 2001, she founded a non-profit in Columbus, Ohio, The Gold Medallion Foundation—School of Esther, a Saturday school, hosting another eight cotillion events. Brenda’s social skills development programs impacted roughly 400 students and about 150 families.
Recently, Brenda has authored two signature self-help textbooks, Get Noticed! Insider Secrets to a Confident and Classy Image and the Get Noticed Woman: Kingdom Keys to Influence & Excellence. Both have been crowning accomplishments, enabling her to launch virtual personal, professional and spiritual development courses. In 2021, she initiated “Sister Friends” Circles in 3 states.
Brenda holds a BA in Business Communications and Fashion Merchandising from West Virginia State University. She was ordained in January of 2000 and again as a Senior Minister in 2015 serving in two congregations in Columbus, Ohio and Sanford, North Carolina. Brenda has been married for 47 years. The Johnsons are the parents of two adult daughters, Melissa & Angela and have one grandson.
