Day 1117: Red. Flags. Financial. Statements.

Yesterday I gave you a few random thoughts highlighted by when you’re committed to nothing you’re distracted by everything as well as how My Drunk Aunt’s friend says she just needs to find a man who strokes your hair and says how soft it is.

Speaking of not caring that it’s on her legs…

Wifey and I were having a conversation and here’s how it went:

Wifey: This year thousands of men will die from stubbornness.

Me: No we won’t.

*silence*

‘Red Flags’

We run a 4 day training on how to read financial statements and in it I stress that you don’t need to be able to create financial statements, you need to be able to read them.

Here are a few reasonably elementary red flags you should help your client be aware of while looking at their financials.

Income statements: Declining revenues, Increasing expenses, Inconsistent earnings, high interest expenses.

Balance Sheet: Accounts receivable increasing, high debt level, negative equity, asset quality in decline, Inventory levels increasing, short term debt.

Cash Flow Statement: Negative operating cash flow, high capital expenditures (CapEx), Frequent financing activities, Inconsistency between net income and cashflow, negative free cashflow, dividends during negative cash flow.

You’d be amazed how much further along you are knowing these red flags.
