One Thing: Day 93: A Tough Time of Year
Day 93: A Tough Time of Year
Yesterday I was explaining how my big brother committing suicide over a business failing and my Mom drinking herself to death as self-imposed punishment acts as fuel/oxygen/heat for me.
Not something I’d recommend going through to achieve success but if you gotta go through it… you might as well have it motivate you.
There was a time in my life when the holidays were a battle.
And I mean a BATTLE.
I totally isolated myself and the people around me had no idea what I was going through.
I’ll never forget a friend of mine, Nick Etchells, who is a prominent newscaster in Australia today.
He came over on Christmas Eve with a six-pack of beer and I’ll never forget it.
Your ONE THING is that Christmas is a tough time of year for many.
If you’re having a tough time… please don’t isolate yourself.
If you know of someone having a tough time and you’re thinking ‘well they’d reach out if they wanted to talk/needed anything.’
The people that NEED TO TALK are the ones you don’t and won’t hear from.
They isolate themselves.
Reach out and also reach out.
It just might mean the world to someone today (Christmas Eve) and for the next 20 years like it did when my wicked friend came unannounced to my place when I needed him.
But would never admit it
What a LEGEND.
Be someone’s Nick Etchells today.
You heard it here first.
