Last week we covered a lot of ground including how ‘they’ talk about their goals while ‘we’ show them ours as well as how my Godson justified a high salary by explaining the job will be super hard because he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Speaking of uncomfortable conversations…

Dangerous Dave was talking to his dad about his new life overseas:

Dangerous Dave: Dad, how’s it going in Poland?

Dangerous Dave’s Dad: Great, I met a wonderful woman.

Dangerous Dave: Awesome, what does she do?

Dangerous Dave’s Dad: She’s homeless.

Dangerous Dave: How is it going?

Dangerous Dave’s Dad: She wants me to move out with her.

*awkward silence*

If you don’t want to be like someone (their character, values, habits)… careful not to spend too much time with them.

Anyhoo…

‘Psychological Flexibility’

If you want to be successful, you’ll need to demonstrate ‘psychological flexibility’.

It’s a critical concept in psychology that shows people react in a way that’s aligned with the standards they’ve created for themselves.

Character. Values. Habits.

Any lightweight can stop drinking heavily, be kind, stop watching Netflix 24/7, hit the gym for a period of time or even pick up the phone and generate a few leads for their business.

But they’ll predictably and automatically revert back to old habits until they change…

… WHO. THEY. ARE.

Character, values and habits.

That takes:

Awareness.

Desire.

Humility.

Honesty with self.

Honestly with loved ones.

Hard work.

Intestinal fortitude.

A step back to make multiple forwards.

So, most won’t demonstrate it.

If you want to have a successful life… It’ll take psychological flexibility.

Now, pick up the phone and go help someone.
