One Thing: Day 786: Valuation. Evaluation. Pet Peeve.
Day 786: Valuation. Evaluation. Pet Peeve.
Yesterday I explained why Tony Robbins events are like a 4-day rock concert as well as how, when you go to a restaurant with great food but poor service, it’s a bad experience.
Speaking of bad experiences…
My wife is singing in the house right now.
I’m sitting outside so that the neighbors don’t think I’m hitting her.
In other news…
Surround yourself with people that want the best for you… not the best from you.
Valuation VS Evaluation
This one is a pet peeve of mine.
I hear people mess up these words as consistently as I confuse definitely, definitely, definitively and defiantly on my daughters homework.
Valuation and evaluation are different concepts.
Valuation: is the process of determining the value of an asset or business.
It can be done via market analysis, financial modeling and comparison with similar assets and or companies.
Valuation is done for the purpose of buying / selling / valuing an asset or for accounting and financial reporting.
Evaluation: is the process of assessing quality or performance.
Methods like analysis, testing, and observation.
Evaluation is usually conducted to determine the effectiveness of a program, product, or service, or to provide feedback for improvement.
Here it is today in two sentences for you:
‘Valuation is about determining the value of an asset or financial instrument.
Evaluation is about assessing the quality or performance of something.’
For my sanity… please stop messing it up when speaking to me.
You heard it here first.
Now, pick up the phone and go help someone.
