Day 62: Being Remembered  

Take the day to remember those that lost their lives so that we can have our freedoms. 

Big Al served his country and after he died recently we got a nice letter acknowledging that from the Military.

Here’s my favorite Remembrance Day poem.

In Flanders Fields

This poem by John McRae is written from the perspective of dead soldiers lying in their graves. 

McRae was a Canadian doctor and Lieutenant Colonel in the First World War, fighting and overseeing medical care in Boulogne with the Canadian Expeditionary Force.

He died of pneumonia on the battlefield in January 1918.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe: 

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high. 

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

When you picture that read by a 19-year old whose life was cut short it’s a bit of a tear-jerker.

Full respect.

Anyhoo… 

Stop hiding

If you want to go down as an entrepreneur that’s remembered… You need to understand Business is an ‘intellectual sport’.

Jeff Bezos and Warren Buffett don’t get “hyped up” before meetings.

That’s a good way to run in the wrong direction with enthusiasm and wonder why you’re not getting anywhere.  

Like going for it on 4th and 1 consistently.

If you’re coaching client is a victim of running on “too much emotion” they likely need to stop and turn around… not speed up.

Stop hiding behind the computer and go help them.
