Day 577: Learn to Rest… Not Quit.


Yesterday I outlined how we pick up copious amounts of clients from the “coach the coaches” crowd who over promise and then can’t deliver.

Speaking of people that consistently underdeliver…

My drunk Aunt is having problems with her partner and was asking me for some advice.

Here’s how our conversation went:

Drunk Aunt: He has blocked me on Facebook, Instagram… I can’t even text him.

He’s blocked me on everything.

Me: Think he’s trying to tell you something?

Drunk Aunt: Ya, he must really want to see me in person.

In other news…

When you shine a light on a wound it heals… remember that you weren’t designed to be perfect.


‘Urgency Bias’

This isn’t necessarily a “sexy concept” but it’s a needle mover for you and your high

end coaching clients.

Unfortunately, we’re are all pretty much hardwired to do what’s urgent… we’re not

hardwired to do what will benefit us long into the future.

Importance doesn’t really factor into it.

Two points to here:

The most important things in your life are seldom the most urgent.

The most important things in your life are due to a compounding process that takes

time to reap the rewards (like watering a plant daily).

In sum…

We don’t take action on the most important long-term things that aren’t urgent.

You get there by telling yourself two lies:

“It’s not urgent so I’ll get to it later”

“It doesn’t matter if I put it off for a short time.” (never do)

The reality is that by the time important things become ‘urgent’…

… it’s too late.

Think health, relationships, personal finances, and marketing your business.

Stop it.

It’s costing you your future.

Here it is in a sentence:

“If urgency and importance had a boxing match…. Urgency would win by a first

round knockout.”

Work to reprogram your brain to naturally weigh long term importance over what’s


You heard it here first.

A consultant in your network might need to read this today…

… forward it to them.

Now, pick up the phone and go help someone.
