Day 574: Emotional Emptiness

Last week we covered a lot of ground including about 50 separate pieces of advice I’ve collected from Billionaires, some Jim Rohn magic and how I gave Wifey what she asked for by tying her up in the bedroom and going to have beers with my buddies.

Speaking of getting into trouble…

My daughter got called into the principal’s office for acting up in school.

The principle called me and here’s how our conversation went:

Principle: Your daughter was causing trouble today at school and I thought you

should know.

Me: She causes trouble at home all the time, do I call to let you know?

In other news…

I know gas prices are out of control, but for context’s sake:

12 oz coffee at Starbucks…

… $7.50.

128 oz of gasoline…

… $4.00.




‘The Wealthy’

A couple months ago I write a popular piece on how the wealthy are primarily attracted to two things… experiences and exclusivity.

Taking this same topic in another direction…

… Poor, middle class and wealthy buy based on emotion more than they ever will

‘facts, figures, features, advantages etc…’

Rich or poor… it’s no different.

We’re emotional creatures.

I remember a scene in the movie, Wall Street with Darryl Hannah*heavy breathing* where she said this about wealth:

“You’re better to have never of had it… than to have had it and lost it.”

The wealthy are affected by the same emotional hot buttons everyone is… but I have found them to have a specific set of emotions that you can use to persuade them at the highest level.

Ridiculously similar to the cute girls in high school btw.

Battle with Imposter Syndrome

Feeding their emotional emptiness

Feelings of not being ‘worth’ the wealth they have built up

Fear of being “found out”

Scared stiff of committing a faux pas and becoming “yesterday’s news”

Often a desperate need of being “today, not passé”

Having others give them, gold stars

The common daily question of “what’s the point of having money/building wealth?”

The affluent are insecure in many ways.

They certainly worry about going backward, about losing their money, status, or


As per Darryl Hannah’s quote above…

… If you’ve never had a 6 figure month and made more money than you could

spend, you don’t know what you’re missing.

If you’re prospect is rich….

… they’re incredibly aware of the challenges, frustrations, inconveniences, and

financial difficulties experienced on a daily basis by ordinary people and they lose

sleep at night concerned about waking up, back there, again.

If you want to close high-end clients with 7 figure or 8 figure businesses…

…. Use this as a guide to lead much of your conversation.

You heard it here first.

A consultant in your network might need to read this today…

… forward it to them.

Now, pick up the phone and go help someone.
