Day 572: My Rivalry

 

Yesterday I was explaining how Jim Rohn’s advice of ‘Escape is Easier than Change’ explains how so many people screw up their life and business.

Speaking of messing up your life…

I gambled on a fart and lost while driving, understandably got distracted and accidentally ran my Jeep into a lake.

Changed my pants and here’s how the conversation went with the insurance lady the next day.

Me: Hi, just wondering if I’m covered if I hit any wildlife with my car?

Insurance Lady: Of course Karl, what did you hit?

Me: A trout.

In other news…

You know those things you’ve always wanted to do…?

You should go and do them.

Anyhoo….

Your One PROFIT ACCELERATION THING Today Is:

‘Rivalries’

One of my favorite wrestlers died of a heart attack yesterday, Razor Ramon.

Back in the day Vince McMahon and the WWF did an AMAZING job of promoting

the sport through rivalries…

Hulk Hogan vs Randy Macho Man Savage (and Elizabeth cough cough)

The Rock vs Steve Austin

Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart

Ric Flair vs Randy Macho Man Savage

Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant

The Undertaker vs Kane

Etc…

Made me think of this.

WWF, UFC, NFL, MLB, PGA, NHL, NBA, EPL, ATP etc…

… are all professional sporting bodies and what I’m about to share, no one does

better than Dana White.

Notice that Dana is always sitting in between the UFC fighters.

Always.

They didn’t do that in Mike Tysons day and for that reason Mike Tyson became

bigger than boxing and the promoters.

The point I’m trying to make is… what these organizing bodies do in a strategic way:

They CREATE rivalries.

Rivalries translate into more interest, better ratings, more attention and

subsequently, money…

Media empires have done this masterfully for decades upon decades.

Question:

What rivalries are you strategically CREATING?

Against local business failure.

Against the taxes and misuse of those collected.

Against the mistreatment of small business owners locally.

Against all the unnecessary red tape.

Against the unnecessary compliance.

Against the lack of support despite the never-ending avalanche of new rules and

regulations.

Against inflation.

Against divorce rates amongst entrepreneurs.

Against suicide rates amongst entrepreneurs.

Against the increase in depression amongst entrepreneurs.

Contact your local media and let them know about your rivalry.

When you speak to prospects, JV’s, partners etc….

… tell them about your rivalry.

If you read my profile online its likely me railing against ridiculous industry norms

like:

Multiple streams of income

Cute funnels

Influencers advising entrepreneurs despite never having built a business of any

significance

Gross Revenue versus GROSS PROFIT MARGIN

Go With your Gut (Gave up Thinking)

Do what you love and make millions (do what you love and soon hate what you used

to love. Money is made in things that you’re good at)

The list of bad advice is literally endless.
