Yesterday I was explaining how the most powerful speech of all time started with “I have a Dream!”

It didn’t start with “I have a step-by-step plan…”

Speaking of things that make you go hmmm… here are four things I’ve been pondering:

Why Kamikaze pilots wore helmets.

That you know you’re getting old when you clean your car to the music you used to party to.

If I changed my car horn to gunshot sounds… will people get out of the way faster?

When Snoop Dog turns 60… that means he’ll be 420 in dog years.

In other news…

Let your weird light shine so the other weirdos know where to find you.



‘Core Competency’

I was talking to a hockey buddy of mine last week… he played for Team USA and is a heck of a hockey player that’s transitioned into business.

The virus did some damage to his business and he was looking to make a dramatic change.

My conversation with him was a lengthy one but the premise was… when in trouble go to your CORE COMPETANCY rather than swing the pendulum.

Similar to, if a left-handed baseball player fell into a slump at the plate, you wouldn’t recommend he start batting right.

A quarterback that started throwing poorly… you don’t tell him to become a linebacker.

Sounds so obvious but people do it in business all the time.

Here are some examples of ‘core competencies’ of famous businesses worth digesting.

FedEx: Overnight Delivery

Southwest Airlines: Boarding and Unboarding Flights.

Dominos: Pizza Delivery

Google: Online Search

McDonalds: Fast Food

Tony Robbins: Commit to Mastery (he SEEDS this in everything he does)

Question for you…
