Day 444: Decline In Learning Orientation

Yesterday I was explaining how to reply in an ‘alpha way’ to get someone to respond rather than asking ‘please get back to me.’

Which they never do.

Speaking of effective messaging that gets a response…

Here’s a text I send my wife when I go to the bar.

“Hi Baby, I’m just having one more beer with the boys. If I’m not home in 20 minutes… read this message again.”

In other news…

Money doesn’t buy happiness but I’ve never seen an unhappy person on a yacht.




This is an excerpt from Jim Collins book ‘How to the Mighty Fall’ on the Decline in Learning Orientation.

“Leaders lose the inquisitiveness and learning orientation that market those truly great individuals who, no matter how successful they become, maintain a learning curve as steep as when they first began.”

You and I were both born with extraordinary powers of intelligence, imagination and spiritual awareness.

Question is…

… Are you tapping into your immense powers?

Or are you losing the inquisitiveness that provided you your greatest gains.

That’d be a shame.

Here’s a second excerpt from a second book, One Thing by Gary Keller.

“In three separate studies, psychologists observed 262 students to see the impact of visualization on outcomes.

The students were asked to visualize in one of two ways:

Those in one group were told to visualize the outcome (getting an “A” on the exam) and the other group was asked to visualize the process needed to achieve a desired outcome (all the study sessions required to achieve the desired “A” on the exam).

In the end, students who visualized the process performed better across the board – they studied earlier and more frequently and earned higher grades than those who simply visualized the outcome.”
