Day 392: Avoiding “The Secret”
Yesterday I was explaining how and why you need to STOP ‘looking’.
Speaking of things I’ve learned the hard way…
Never ask a woman who’s eating ice cream straight from the carton… how she’s doing.
And while I’m on the topic of my wife…
I remember early in our relationship when she asked me “to tell her the three words every girl wants to hear…”
So, I whispered:
“I play hockey.”

‘Avoiding the Secret’
I recently found myself accidentally watching the personal development cult movie ‘The Secret’.
Think of this message as:

It’s a cute thought but a ridiculous message that makes good, honest, people susceptible to a life of failure and falling for get rich quick scams.
If “The Secret” was the ‘secret’, then the guys that created the movie would have sat in their living rooms thinking SUPER positively about the movie becoming a monster hit.
That’s not what happened.
They were riding planes, trains, and automobiles going from city to city and stage to stage pumping the tires of the movie.
Working their backsides off while promoting the hell out of it along with the message of “The Law of Attraction”.
If at any stage during the movie they had mentioned ‘action’ or at least doing something…
That would have been nice.
It should be called “The law of ACTION” rather than “The Law of Attraction”.
That’s a boatload closer to the ‘secret’ if there actually was one.
Which, there’s not.
When my 7-year-old daughter was born, I was scared CRAPLESS something was going to go wrong.
Not sure why… I just was.
If my thoughts had ANY control over the outcome, she was coming out with all kinds of rare and strange-looking physical disorders.
Thank goodness the law of attraction doesn’t work.
Your best attitude is no better than your worst attitude when it comes to getting and keeping high-end coaching clients.
I remember being a confused, stressed-out, broke business coach.
It wasn’t until I learned the key 12 areas of building a successful business that I ever started making any real money.
Daily, I’ll hear from a business coach that’s not using my online lead generation tools and business coaching software:
“I need leads”… “I need more clients”… or “I need more money”.
The problem is not the number of leads, clients, or the money.
The problem is they refuse to help people prior to getting paid.
You have an “I want to be paid before I coach you” problem.
That’s the problem.
Assume it’s Christmas time… you walk to the post office box…. see a box from someone you haven’t heard from in a long time.
They sent a Christmas card with a thoughtful note and a small unexpected present for your family.
What a great surprise.
How did that card and small gift make you feel?
You felt great and that’s where the magic lies.
You also reciprocated with a kind gesture in return.
It’s called the rule of reciprocity and it’s a powerful force.
When thinking about getting clients… think of “moving the free line.”
Provide people your best content and help on the front end of the relationship and as a result, people will trust you at a higher level and happily pay for your program when asked to buy it.
Stop trying to “get coaching clients” and start helping your ideal prospects.
Rather than The Law of Attraction and being “positively” (that’s a pun HAHA) broke… let’s follow the Law of Action and start positively change some business owners lives.
Here’s your Action Plan (inspired by one of my all time favorite movies, Mission Impossible).
Your 90-day mission, should you choose to accept it and as always should you be hung up on, sworn at, or hated on social media, Karl Bryan will disavow any knowledge of your actions.
1. Get yourself into a powerful state of “determination” and imagine yourself as a Multiple Six-Figure Coach with a $300,000 bank balance and more happy, prosperous kick-arse high-end coaching clients than you can handle.
2. Collect marketing materials of all shapes and sizes from your city (a business coach that has a “no junk mail sign” is stupid beyond measure) online directories, newspapers, magazines, coupon books, direct mail pieces, view billboards, listen to local radio for ads etc.
These are all GOLD because people advertising/marketing are trying to grow their business and spending money to do so.
These people hire coaches faster than anyone and proven they’re willing to spend money to improve/grow their business.
3. Pick the best 3 businesses you know you can help. Example: ones with horrific advertisements that look like a blown-up business card.
Ones with no call to action. No valuable offer, if they have their company name at the top of the advert instead of a headline call for this reason etc…

4. Call them and HELP THEM.
Yes, I said “call them” and this could be misconstrued as a cold call so try not to throw up in the garbage can… what you don’t realize is that Tony Robbins has made a cold call within the last 90 days.
Tony just didn’t see it as a ‘cold call’ like a lightweight… he had something to tell someone so he called to help them and didn’t think twice about it.
Do this 3 times per day for 90 consecutive days with zero expectation of anything in return.
Do it to help THEM… not help you!
Watch what happens and enjoy the spoils.
Warning: it’ll be super fun and you’ll get stupidly good at it.
You’ll likely save a marriage, a family, or possibly a life by the end of the week.

You can’t think of powerful positioning… here you go and adjust as you see fit.
