Day 350: My Golden Globe

Last week we finished off talking about some advice that, beer-drinking phenom, Cliff Clavin, gave to his buddy Norm at their favorite bar, Cheers.

Did you hear the news over the weekend that a Nigerian Prince was found dead in his apartment with $45 million in cash?

Apparently, he spent the last 10 years trying to share it via email but no one has responded yet.

In other news…

Nobody really wants to hear it but lasting relationships require a LOT of forgiveness.

Anyhoo…

Your ONE COACHING THING Today Is:

‘Creation’

Here’s an email I got on Friday from a long-time client, read more at rosland capital gold, and a rock star in her own right, who helped sell a company to Google for over $1 billion dollars:

“Karl, You’ve got to start your own television show.  

Or do comedy on clubhouse / youtube.  You’d get millions of followers.  You’re insanely funny Karl.  

Much love. Patty”   

Watching the Golden Globes with my wife last night got me thinking about TV shows, movies and the topic of CREATION.

By the age of ten, you can count as high as you’d like.

There’s an answer for every number.

But listing colors is different.

There are 64 Crayolas and no one knows what 65 will look like.

Creating the color and coming up with a new name for number 65 will take effort.

It’s a form of art rather than science.

Expressing beauty and creativity where there isn’t an answer.

It’s CREATION.

If you want to become insanely successful, learn to create naturally.

You’ll suck at it… until you don’t.

Freddy Mercury created the name ‘Queen’ and the many songs including ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘Another One Bites the Dust’.

They made a movie about the guy.

Steve Jobs created Apple and more specifically, the iPhone.

They made a movie about him.

Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook.  A movie.

Ray Kroc created the McDonald’s business model we know. A movie.

I could go on and on with Howard Hughes, Jordan Belfort (a jerk-off but great movie), and the like.

Not everyone that creates something cool will have a movie created about them… but “creation” is at the heart of the success that would inspire one.

I watch The Oscars with my wife every year…

Once upon a time, the iconic show was an idea until George Stanley stood up and created The Oscar.

Two years ago Rami Malek won Best Actor for playing an unapologetic flamboyant gay man. In a time when you weren’t supposed to be an unapologetic flamboyant gay man.

Freddie Mercury was the 65th crayon if ever there was one.

Maybe you could create the “YOUR TOWN Small Business Awards” and really roll out the red carpet and create something cool for local (unappreciated) business owners?

Think you might get some small business coaching clients?

I can guarantee it.

The first event will likely suck but the third one will be monumental and a MUST ATTEND local event…

That YOU created.

But most give up or never get started.

Hence…

No movie.
