Day 308: The War Zone

Yesterday I was explaining where I make my 22-year-old daughter’s boyfriend stand at picture time and how to avoid marketing like the kid on the football field trying not to get hurt.

As a kid when I played a bad game of hockey my Dad would say:

“You were skating around like you had eggs in your pockets.” LOL

Speaking of eggs…

I went to pick up some groceries yesterday.

I never thought my spirit animal would be an elderly lady in the grocery store yelling “I can’t take it anymore and these arrows are pissing me off!”

Yet, here I am.

Anyhoo….

Your ONE COACHING THING Today Is:

‘Marketing is a War Zone’

Expanding upon yesterday’s thought of playing the marketing game to win.

If you were placed in charge of a war zone…

And you saw the war zone as one big battlefield… you’re about to lose badly and your boys are going home in body bags.

If you want to be a war hero like George S. Patton… you’d break the large warzone up into dozens of smaller battlefields.

Research the terrain of each battleground and choose battles you can win with the resources at hand.

So go pick a small marketing battlefield today and go win yourself some territory.

Can you give me an example, I hear you ask?

Research FB groups and choose a single FB group with your ideal clients in it.

One you can really impact.

Make 25 educational comments of value to those in the group… and those that engage, send a PM to keep the conversation flowing.

Goal is to create 3 warm conversations to HELP those you engaged with.

Keep penetrating that group with your help until you’re seen as a valued member and people start asking for your direction.

An offline example of this strategy is going to a networking group and seeing it as a small battleground you can win.

Expect to find lots of ‘lightweight businesses’ but you’ll also find some excellent clients there.

Don’t go once and expect to get anywhere.

You need to penetrate that group with VALUE until you become the go-to person when someone has a question.

That can happen very quickly.

*Imagine being able to say ‘I can find any business in here $100,000 without you needing to spend an extra dollar on marketing or advertising’*
