Day 298: Being Detested

Yesterday I was explaining how to easily sell a Coke for $8.50 when everyone else is buying for it $3.50.

I called my telephone company and was on hold for an hour.

A lady answers and she’s clearly from India.

Her: “Where do you live?”

Me: “420 Audubon Crt”

Her: “Where is that?”

Me: “By the new deli”

Her: “I live in New Delhi, we must be neighbors.”

I hung up.

Anyhoo…

Your ONE COACHING THING Today Is:

The Stonemason

I read this somewhere else and will do my best to capture the essence of it.

Will perfectly compliment the “change” message I sent you from earlier this week.

A stonemason who was very good at chiseling stone but was unsettled with where he was in life.

While walking he passed a wealthy business owner’s house…

Envious…

He wished to become a wealthy business owner.

To his surprise, he became a wealthy business owner and found himself detested by those less wealthy than himself.

A high official passed his business in a limo.

The high official made the laws and had guards and people bowing to him… how powerful, he must be!

Envious… wished he could become a high official.

To his surprise, he became a high official and found himself detested by those bowing to him.

On a hot summer day, he looked up from his limo and saw the powerful sun unfazed by the people… he wished that he could become the sun.

He became the sun shining powerfully down scorching the Earth and found himself detested by the farms and their people.

A huge black cloud came between him, the sun, and the farmers’ fields… he thought ‘how powerful is that black cloud!’

We wished to become the black cloud and he did.

As he rained down and darkened the fields and flooded the villages, he was detested by the people below.

As the black cloud, he was pushed aside from a great force and realized it was the wind.

He wished to become the wind and he did.

His power uprooted trees, blew shingles off houses, and was hated by the people below.

As the wind, he ran up against something that he could not move… no matter how hard he blew… what could this be?

A huge rock.

He wished to become the rock and be more powerful than anything on Earth…

And he did.

As he stood strong to the ground, unmovable he heard the sound of a chisel and felt himself being changed.

“What could possibly be more powerful than a huge rock?”

He looked down and saw a stonemason…

You heard it here first.

And when you achieve massive success, in other people’s eyes, don’t expect to have more friends. You’ll have fewer and LOTS of detractors.

When this happens, you must go to “your purpose” and away from “their opinions”.

Dig in rather than pivot?
