One Thing: Day 119: Lance Armstrong’s Competitive Advantage
Day 119: Lance Armstrong’s Competitive Advantage
Yesterday I was explaining about innovation and the role it plays in avoiding competition.
Like Lance Armstrong used to say, “If you don’t have a competitive advantage… don’t compete.”
Ouch, that was mean.
If he didn’t invest in Uber early on… his family would be living in a mud hut.
Anyhoo…
Today’s ONE THING
Is something you need to teach your business coaching clients and an insanely common business mistake:
“Customers get addicted to discounts but don’t get addicted to free.”
Here’s an example:
If your client owns a restaurant… a round of free drinks will generate incredible ‘goodwill’.
A discount on a visit followed by a non-discounted visit can quickly create a disappointed regular.
When I used to own a Skatepark, I made this mistake and paid for it in bottom line profits.
Tell your clients to stop it.
You heard it here first.
Zzzzzzz……
